The Austrian Government has come out with a discriminatory policy when allowing foreigners to enter into their country having vaccination with Covishield, Sinopharm, or Sinovac. While it will allow passengers with these vaccination certificates to enter but not allow them to visit public areas restaurants, bars, nightclubs, recreation facilities, gyms, cultural institutions, on cable cars/ski lifts.

 

Despite the rise in coronavirus infections in the country, Austria has removed AstraZeneca's Covishield, which itself is made by the Pune-based Serum Institute of India, off from its list of "licensed vaccines".

 

According to an updated governmental recommendation, the list of allowed vaccines is for "Into any form of persuasion, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, recreation facilities, gyms, cultural institutions, on cable cars/ski lifts, as well as for body-related services". Sinopharm and Sinovac are both manufactured in China, while Covishield is made in India. The World Health Organization has given approval to all three vaccines.

 

AstraZeneca vaccines, as well as those from BioNtech/Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, and Moderna, have already been approved to be used in public entertainment venues and cafes. Someone who has been vaccinated with Covishield, manufactured by Serum Institute of India, as well as Sinopharm and Sinovac, are not allowed to visit certain locations only if they can show a negative RT-PCR report.
