Vaccines for COVID-19 may offer protection against other Coronaviruses.

According to a study, covid 19 vaccinations and previous coronavirus infections can provide wide protection against all other, comparable coronaviruses. The findings, which have been published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation, provided support for universal coronavirus vaccinations, which could have been beneficial in future epidemics.

"Until our study, it wasn't obvious whether you would have cross-protection against other coronaviruses unless you were exposed to one coronavirus." And we showed that," said Pablo Penaloza-MacMaster, an assistant professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in the United States, who led the study. Sarbecovirus, which includes the SARS-CoV-1 strain involved in the 2003 outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), and SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19, are the 3 major coronavirus families that cause human disease.

States and UTs are being asked to concentrate on the second dose of the Covid vaccine.

The Centre has encouraged states and union territories to focus on improving coverage of the second dose in view of sufficient vaccine availability, adding that the country is close to providing a billion Covid vaccine doses. So far, more 99 crore vaccine doses have already been provided across the country on the basis of the statewide COVID-19 vaccination effort. Pm Narendra Modi announced the countrywide COVID-19 immunisation programme

The Union government has also sought input from the states in establishing novel overseas travel norms. According to a ministry statement, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan reviewed vaccinations progress with Health Secretaries and mission directors of national health missions in states and Union territories through video conference.

The withdrawal of the 7 day quarantine rule in Great Nicobar Island is being demanded by an Andaman MP.

For the sake of public comfort, Andaman and Nicobar Islands MP Kuldeep Rai Sharma has demanded that the union territory administration's chief secretary remove the seven-day quarantine restriction in Great Nicobar Island. Rai also asked the administration to schedule a passenger cargo ship for Great Nicobar Island in Nicobar district as soon as possible, citing a shortage of potatoes, onions, tomatoes, and eggs on the island as a result of the cargo transfer from Port Blair to Campbell Bay being delayed.

the Member of Parliament wrote to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, stating that residents of Great Nicobar Island have informed him that the Nicobar district administration is currently going to be subjected all incoming passengers to a seven-day quarantine, spite of the fact that the seven-day quarantine system has been already implemented in all other parts of such a union territory. The Great Nicobar Island is home to Indira Point, India's southernmost point.

Almost all Islanders have received the first dosage of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Congress MP, and a considerable number of individuals have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. He argued that the seven-day quarantine regulation in Great Nicobar Island is currently causing unnecessary troubles while also reducing the total effectiveness of government departments and offices. For the sake of public convenience, the MP requested that the chief secretary relax the seven-day quarantine regulation and book a passenger ship with goods or perhaps a cargo ship for Great Nicobar Island.
