The Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) plant is the most used oxygen plant in the world. It has a high production capacity and a long operating life. On-site PSA oxygen plants are used to produce medical-grade oxygen for the delivery of high purity oxygen to numerous healthcare facilities, where oxygen is produced continuously on-site.

 

PSA plants are innovative medical oxygen production facilities that are safe, reliable, and energy efficient. The technology is used for both medical and industrial applications of oxygen, air separation, gas treatment etc.

 

The technology has been used in medical oxygen concentrators for decades as a safe, clean method for producing medical oxygen from compressed air and water. PSA oxygen plants produce oxygen from air by compressing air and then cooling it down and storing it in a tank or reservoir. The same physical phenomenon that causes water to turn to ice takes place within the reservoir of the PSA plant, but at pressures of over 800 psi. This causes the nitrogen in the air to separate out of the oxygen that is left behind. When the nitrogen is purged from the reservoir through a vent, it is available again as compressed air.

 

PSA plants are generally cost-effective, compact, simple and innovative in operation with a number of advantages such as easy start-up and shut-down, high reliability etc. which makes it ideal as an emergency plant to supply kerosene or LPG to remote areas.
