The capital city of Srinagar is in the grip of a third wave of coronavirus as daily average positive cases touched highest in November. According to city doctors, 50 to 60 daily Corona positive cases were reported between August and October. However in November the cases started hitting three times around 150 daily.
Statistics reveal that in comparison to other big cities, Jammu, which still reports on average 5-10% of total positive cases, Srinagar alone accounts for 60%.On November 10, Srinagar recorded 68 of the Kashmir Valley’s total 147 positive cases. On November 7, the city had reported 87 of the total 156 positive cases showing a pattern in rising positive cases.
Till now J&K reported 1,200 total active cases as of which 1,100 are from the Valley and 600 positive cases are from Srinagar. The casualties’ figures show as many as 4448 Covid deaths in Jammu & Kashmir state. The two capital cities of Kashmir and Jammu account for 2,270 and 2,178 casualties respectively.
J&K Additional Health Secretary, Vivek Bhardwaj disclosed that the positivity rate in Srinagar has jumped to 1.96% last week from 0.38% in August. The number has set an alarm bell ringing among health officials as they discussed measures to control it.
Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Director, health services, Kashmir, blames sharp rise in positive corona cases to marriage and religious gatherings. Kashmir’s wedding season peaks in September and October. Dr.Naveed Nazir, Head of Chest Diseases’ Hospital in Srinagar told media that his hospital has seen more Covid-19 patients in the last two weeks. He claimed around 40-45 patients are admitted every day in comparison to 25 to 30 in the last 10 weeks. This could be an indication of the start of the third wave, he suggested.
Nazir also informed that those with double vaccinations too have become positive but there is no severity in symptoms in comparison to those without vaccination. Mutations of Coronavirus is one of the main reasons for its longevity despite all out efforts to stamp out the virus. In J & K, out of around 1,800 cases sent for whole genome sequencing (analysis of SARS-CoV-2), 84% showed mutations, according to the official data. The maximum 54% detected Delta virus followed by Alpha at 10.6% and Kappa at 2.8%.
Other mutations accounted for 17%. With the third corona wave like situation starting in Kashmir, it shows that the threat from Coronavirus still continues to be a threat in India, especially from the deadly mutant Delta Virus. This is the reason why the Government of India continues efforts to push vaccination drives. It is also relentlessly following up with the state run government hospitals and health centers to install oxygen manufacturing plants, oxygen filling plants and beef up oxygen plants supplier and Oxygen distributions network.
Meanwhile India’s booming private health centers too continue to invest heavily in putting in oxygen production plants, oxygen cylinder filling plants, and oxygen factory. They are also joining hands with private manufacturers of oxygen plants like Bhartiya Cryogas, India’s top manufacturers and exporter of medical and industrial plants including Oxygen, Nitrogen, Nitrous Oxide and Acetylene Plants.
The Sahibabad (Dist. of Ghaziabad) in U.P based, Bhartiya Cryogas is one of India’s oldest and reputed Manufacturer of oxygen plant, Oxygen cylinder filling plants.
