Surge in Omicron could trigger Corona’s 3rd Wave: IMA

IMA urged government to immediately announce "additional" doses of anti corona vaccination for health care, frontline workers and immune compromised individuals due to possible third wave.

The second wave of corona wave have inflicted heavy casualties in front line and health workers in India. It was triggered by the silent sudden rise of deadly Delta variant. The doctors body in a press meet predicted that the Omicron cases in states will gradually rise which could once again test health facilities. This is rise in cases has come a the time when country’s economy was limping back to normalcy as such there is a need to boost immunity through third dose. "If we do not take adequate measures, we may have a third wave", IMA warned.

It also praised the government for administering more than 1.26 billion jabs that has helped in preventing severe form of infections and reduced hospitalization. India authorities have already put a rigorous screening of passengers coming from abroad. It also continues to emphasize to maintain Covid appropriate behavior of social distancing, masking and double dosage of vaccination.

The Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, meanwhile , is constantly engaged with his counterparts in state government to boost up health infrastructures including adequate availability of medical grade oxygen in case of an emergency. Government hospitals have floated several tender bids to invite private companies to install an oxygen production plant and oxygen supply.
