Uzbekistan's first gas-to-liquids plant is being launched in the country's Farghona region. The plant will be able to convert 3.5 million tonnes of gas annually into 400,000 tonnes of liquid hydrocarbons for export.
The new gas-to-liquids refinery will be built with a total investment of $3.6 billion on the basis of Units 9, 10 and 11 of Khimprom's Central Azot chemical plant in Urgut (Farghana region).
The liquid oxygen plant has a designed capacity of 400,000 tonnes per year which will make Uzbekistan to be a gas producing country with a diversified transport fuel supply portfolio as natural gas will be used as raw material for production of transport fuels.
What is GTL? A gas-to-liquids (GTL) industrial plant converts natural gas into a variety of transportation fuels and specialty liquids. Natural gas comprises mostly methane and contains small amounts of ethane, propane and butane.
The gas-to-liquids plant converts natural gas into a liquid fuel by combining it with oxygen (through high temperature vaporisation) thus making it a synthetic hydrocarbon. The main components of the GTL plant are the cryogenic separators and the process train, followed by control equipment, reactors, separators and demethanizers to capture the desired product streams. These components split the original methane stream into four parts.
The GTL plant is the next generation of conversion technologies for converting natural gas into synthetic liquid hydrocarbons. The GTL process utilises the Fischer-Tropsch (F-T) technology, which was developed nearly a century ago in Germany and has been used successfully around the world.
The GTL plant is a flexible, modular and potentially continuous process for the production of liquid fuels based on natural gas. In the GTL process, natural gas (predominately methane) is converted into lighter hydrocarbon chains through a series of multistage reforming, acid treatment, and aromatization processes. The final products are clean burning liquids that can be fully integrated into the existing & future transportation infrastructure.
The Bhartiya Cryogas Company has been manufacturing plants and equipment for the medical oxygen and industrial gas industry since 1973 in India. The company is a leading manufacturer and supplier of a complete range of oxygen plants like Oxygen Concentrators, Purification Plants (Oxygen Plants), Nitrogen Plants, Medical Oxygen Generators, Industrial Gas Generators and Medical Air Compressors.
The company offers single, dual and multiple effect design Air Separation Plants which are particularly useful to process natural gas (Methane) and other hydrocarbon gases. Our O2 plants have a wide range of applications including petrochemical industry, sewage treatment plants, distilleries, sugar mills and pulp & paper mills. Some of its applications consist of H2S removal from natural gas in Oil & Gas industry, Ethylene production in Chemical & Petrochemical industry, Washing of SCM gases, production of calcium carbide at power plants.
