Cryogenics Oxygen Plant Produces On-Site High Purity Oxygen for Industrial & Medical Purposes
  • Shailesh Gaikawad

The cryogenics oxygen plant produces on-site, high-purity oxygen for industrial production processes and for medical purposes.

The cryogenics oxygen plant takes in industrial synthesis gas and liquefies it in a cryogenic process. In the process, oxygen binds to the carrier gas CO2, liquid nitrogen and oil products. On the basis of an air separation by pressure swing adsorption (PSA), the thermal and cryogenic processes are combined into a cryogenic process.

The process converts these gases into liquid or solid form. From there, various methods can be used to produce pure oxygen from either liquid or solid carbon dioxide or nitrogen.

The Cryogenics Oxygen Plant is a self-contained, modular unit that incorporates piping, pumps, valves, controls, alarms and instrumentation as well as pressurised gas cylinders. It provides the flexibility needed to sell oxygen to process facilities in varying quantities and quality.

Cryogenics systems are the ideal choice for oxygen plants producing up to 20 standard cubic metres per hour. The oxygen produced provides a safe, efficient and environmentally friendly method of dispensing in-home or general business use. With all the equipment required to produce oxygen safely and efficiently under one roof, a cryogenics plant is an affordable way to produce high purity gas.

Cryogenics is the science and application of very low temperatures. In this field, gases are cooled to very low temperatures where they condense into solids. Oxygen can be liquefied when compressed at a pressure of around 33,000 pounds per square inch (psi) -- if it's cooled down to around -300øF or -184øC. Air also has less oxygen in, but that's mostly because of pressure changes when the air is compressed into a confined space like an aeroplane cabin.

Oxygen is a gas that is one of the most abundant elements in nature, comprising 21% of the Earth's atmosphere. However, it is also a very dangerous gas. When it is purified and converted into molecules it can be used for medicinal purposes; the rest of the oxygen that is not converted serves no purpose but to pollute the air we breathe.
