GOI Scales Up Vaccination Drives and Oxygen Plants Installations

With an abundant availability of anti- corona vaccines, India’s Covid-19 vaccination drives continue to create new milestones. On November 19, India’s cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 114.46 crores. Currently more than 22 million doses of vaccines are available with the state government.

The daily average of dosage on November 18 was more than 73.44 lakh doses. Whereas 11,919 fresh positive cases reported in the last 24 hours, the recovery rate currently was at 98.28%.

The recovery of 11,242 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,38,85,132.

According to Government of India data, the country's Active Case load stands at 1,28,762. However the Weekly Positivity Rate (0.94%) was less than 2% for the last 55 days.

Due to close coordination between the Centre and the States/UTs (Union Territories) there is a continuing trend of less than 50,000 Daily New Cases that is being reported for 144 consecutive days now. Only 11,919 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Besides vaccination drives, the government also continues to ramp up installation of oxygen plants across hospitals and health care centers. Out of 3,631 PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) oxygen plants, 1595 plants are commissioned in the country – providing 2088 Metric Tons (MT) of oxygen to patients in the hospitals, as per the latest information provided by the Union Health Ministry.

According to Rajesh Bhushan, the Union Health Secretary 3,631 PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) Plants have been installed in the country. Once these oxygen plants get commissioned, they will be able to make available more than 4,500 MT of Medical Oxygen.

Central resources have helped 1,491 of these oxygen plants with the capacity of more than 2,200 MT of Medical Oxygen. 2,140 Plants were made through states and other resources. They will supply around 2,289 MT of Medical Oxygen.
